Optimizing Images for SEO
How to optimize your images for search engine visibility on Good Gallery
Optimizing Images for SEO
Image optimization helps search engines understand and index your images. Well-optimized images can appear in Google Image Search results, driving additional traffic to your website.
Filenames
Image filenames provide search engines with important clues about image content. Use descriptive filenames that include relevant keywords.
Best practices:
- Use lowercase letters
- Separate words with hyphens
- Include relevant keywords
- Keep filenames concise but descriptive
Good examples:

Poor examples:

Note: Rename your image files before uploading them to Good Gallery. Filenames cannot be changed after uploading.
Content
Add descriptive text content to each image using the Content area in Image Settings. This content helps search engines understand what each image depicts.
Include relevant keywords naturally within your image content. Write for people first, then consider search engines.
See the Image Settings section for instructions on adding content to images.
Location
Add location information to images when applicable. Location data helps your images appear in location-based searches.
The Location field in Image Settings accepts a full street address or city and state. This information is especially valuable for photographers who want to appear in local search results.
See the Image Settings section for instructions on adding location information.
Tags
Tags categorize and group images by subject matter. Well-organized tags help search engines understand the relationships between your images and improve your site's internal linking structure.
Tips for SEO-friendly tags:
- Use descriptive, keyword-rich tag names
- Keep the number of tags per image manageable (fewer than 5 is recommended)
- Create tags that visitors might search for
- Optimize tag titles and meta descriptions
See the Image Tags section for detailed information about creating and managing tags.
